Who Are We?

The CURA team consists of University scholars and community agencies, groups and individuals who have come together with a shared goal of reducing bullying among children and youth. They believe that there is a need to study the phenomenon of bullying itself through an innovative partnership between community leaders and front-line service providers operating in true and equal collaboration with university researchers.

Our research team is comprised of some 30 accomplished academics coming from a variety of different research backgrounds such as psychology, psychiatry, pediatrics, education, epidemiology, rehabilitation sciences etc. and talented community leaders who, although coming from different disciplines, share knowledge and expertise about child development and violence prevention and intervention.

Our community partners include 25 groups and organizations who strongly believe in the African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child”, and as such these youth serving agencies have come together with the mutual understanding that a cultural shift is required to effectively reduce bullying.
